Fucking War

The Machine gun in the desert
Sands surrounding in the cloudless
Empire of the seething sun
Repeatedly ejecting metal fragments
Like flying swords with every burst of flame -
The bolted metal blasting beast in a rhythm
Somehow like something alive.
Troops marching in accordance
With what twisted moon and war
Mongering spirit that delights
In the wicked travails of
Combatants undoing
One another
With capsules of fire [...]

Decisions

New roads in the eclipsing
Woods whisper
Of new treasures.
All paths are shadowed though,
As if what will be
Is not there and the different
Colored Genii and nymphs that
Attend their entrances
Are but illusions, projections,
Capricious things
Capable of dissolving
At any moment but also
Able to unzip the forest canopy:
Lead one up out of the gloomy vale,
Up the gleaming marble steps studded
With precious [...]

Synechdoche

Oh purple clouds of the
Newborn morning,
Tattered and ripped
Like a light broken shell:
The fire burning through
The billows;
The fire rising on the horizon
Like an omen for
The whole universe.

The Holy, Mighty Whale

The wailing ocean,
Whale souls of pain
Furrowing the wind ripped waves.
Colossal movements
Like individuated, prolonged
Earthquakes attended by watery
Towers like arms reaching
In the momentary moonlit air;
Their mighty whale destiny
To return
To the depths once more
In eternal vicissitude:
Titans of the Sea,
Guardians of an ancient secret
Intrinsic to man and ocean and earth.

Only idiots deal in impossibilities.

An Eternal Voracity

The iron box of fire,
Crackling and spitting
Like something alive - some frantic infant
Recognizing no order but stretching
Bending, flexing and moving in all directions
At all times in a rapid flux, while
All the while consuming
Its meal felled from the surface
Of the world:
A tender form that nature
Mother Earth,
Some nursley being
Breathed life into, cared for
And monitored - that
Iron box [...]

A Subjective Hades

Old poems drag old selves
Like ghosts
Out of the Past.
Haunting bastards seeking renewal,
A present avatar.  One must
Be vigilant and on guard to protect
Against these intruders which wait
In shadows
On the periphery of candle light,
Desperately seeking,
Like some army storming
A citadel,
The grail of being.

Reason is The Outward Circumference of Energy

Gods used to battle in the old days -
Before things were settled
Saturn was deposed in the riotous
Tumult and betrayal of the son
Rising up with blistering staff
Of lightning to install a new regime.
Down, down those Titans fell
In merciless defeat devoured,
And Jove, with iron consistency,
Held sway over the Heavens and
Earth.  But do they wait - those original
Monsters, [...]

World Legitimacy

Who remembers their birth?
All origins are remote.
                      -
The snakes bloom like wolf hearts,
Animate, out of the sunless sea -
Climbing out like surf to crawl
Around the supplicant in concerted meditation calling
             Sleep.
He beseeches transference into the
Seperate plane where snakes metamorphose
Into dreams at the charms and whisperings
Of the unseen sorcerer who strikes with
Magic lightning and makes dead [...]

Et In Arcadia Ego

The greatest riddle:
The great democratizer
Of this planet
Undoing all things done -
Knots untied -
Ever vigilant
A hood of midnight,
Red cat eyes peering
Over the horizons of all plains:
Magnetic, inevitable, eternal.
What waits beyond that precipice?
What unfathomable destiny
Attends the departed?
What God formed death,
This transitory glimpse,
Existence, the enrooted heart
Which spills its blood
With each menacing feature?
Regardless of the gargoyles,
The sun, like a [...]
